June 2002 Prayerletter

June 9, 2002
Dear Friends
Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is a special letter intended to share our specific need of additional financial support. First of all, to those who support the work here in Bolivia, we are very thankful for your faithfulness over the last year or more on our behalf. May God richly bless you all (Phil. 4:19).
Lily and I arrived in Bolivia in March of 2001, ready to serve the Quechua People here in Evangelism and Discipleship. We did not have our full support that is recommended by PIONEERS but felt led to come anyway by faith. As we studied Quechua during the first year here, we cut many corners, had the exchange rate in our favor for many months and lived in the countryside for a time in order to work within the support level we were at. Now that we are moving from Language Study into our Ministries, we have more costs to deal with and also Patrick attending School now.
These costs are not being covered by our present support level and an added pressure is being put on the Home Office in Ontario. Our account is in the red and so we look at the possibility of having to take action to raise our support level as soon as possible.
This is our first option and most feasible. We are praying that God will touch the hearts of individuals and churches to give towards our monthly support. We believe that God has us here for a reason and our last year spent in learning the Quechua language was for a purpose. Coming home to raise the additional support would be our next option but would only add to our financial needs and we are confident that God would not have us break the momentum of the past year and three months.
Please, if you are interested in supporting God's work in Bolivia through our work, contact us or directly contact PIONEERS in Canada or the United States by using the addresses at the bottom of this letter.
We appreciate the moment you have taken top read this letter and continue to pray that God will supply the needed support so that we can remain here in Bolivia and serve the Quechua People that God loves so much.

Praying with You All,

Greg and Lily Muir

Dear Friends,
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus. Lily and I want to wish you all a Happy Spring! Unlike you folks in the North, we are entering into Winter here in Bolivia. The nights will be cooler and the rains will dry up but that's about all that will be different.
Lily and I are just finishing up one full year of being here in Bolivia as fulltime Missionaries with PIONEERS. We have enjoyed our first year immensely and look back on a very prosperous year behind us. Most of our time was dedicated to learning the Quechua language. We were in classes for approximately 6 months and the other 6 months were spent in practical study of the language through interaction with Quechua speakers. We enjoyed the 3 plus months that we spent in the village of Pocoata practicing Quechua. We continue to pray that God will give us fluency and many more productive opportunities to better our Quechua. I just completed my first oral exam and was encouraged by the outcome. I still have much to learn though. Our goal for this next year is to be able to begin teaching and discipleship in Quechua wherever God would have us here in Bolivia.
During our year here, we have realized the need to raise some more support. We actually arrived in Bolivia with about 60 % of what PIONEERS recommends a Missionary's support to be. Now with looking at our family growing in the future, Patrick starting school and the added expenses of travel in the countryside, we see the need to trust God and share with you folks our need for increased monthly support. Please be in prayer with us for this matter as it is quite urgent. We enjoy serving here in Bolivia and trust God to keep us here for the long haul. We thank you all in advance for praying and considering how God could supply for this increase in needed support. If you would be interested in becoming a part of our Support Team, please contact PIONEERS at one of the addresses found at the bottom of this letter.
We thank God for those who already are praying and giving towards the ministry here in Bolivia. We believe God has chosen you to serve along side of us through your prayers and support. May God bless you all.

January 2002
Dear Friends,
A lot of time has past since we last communicated with you all. We pray that each of you had a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We had a great three-month stay in the town of Pocoata. This time in the countryside helped us a lot in learning the Quechua language and it also helped us see the many opportunities for ministry in the countryside of Bolivia. We are now back in Cochabamba taking some more Quechua classes as we would both like to arrive at a level to be able to teach in Quechua.
Patrick is doing well. He made many new friends during our time in Pocoata. He is a great asset to ministry as he opens many doors for us to be able to share with folk. He will be starting school soon (Pre-Kindergarten) so please pray for us as we make so huge decisions. We are not sure whether to place him in an English School, in the Bolivian School system or to teach him at home. Pray that the Lord gives us wisdom. Please be praying also for Patrick's language learning as it seems that the many languages are creating confusion for him and he may have a slight speech difluency.
We are in the midst of building a house on one of Lily's mother's lots in Cochabamba. We feel this home will help us as we travel to and from the countryside in the future. It is so difficult to have to pack up and unpack everything every couple of months. Please pray that God will continue to supply so that we can be moved in sometime in February. We are very thankful to God for those who have given to help us out so far.
Keeping our Webpage updated over the last couple of months has been difficult but we are adding new pictures and information now. Please check us out at http://www.geocities.com\muirgl. You can e-mail us at heringo@hotmail.com. We would love to hear from you. We continually thank God for blessing us with a Great Team of supporters like yourselves. Thank you to all who are praying and/or giving to the work here in Bolivia. May God richly bless you.

Only Through Him,

Greg and Lily Muir
